What is go90?
Started by Verizon in 2015, go90 is a free streaming service that offers thousands of on-demand TV shows, movies, and clips. You can make an account for free using an email address or social media profile, and you’re granted access to the entire library. It’s kind of like YouTube, but on a much smaller scale.
Where YouTube offers endless original content, go90 allows users to stream entire movies and TV shows for free. Even though go90 can’t compete with YouTube’s ever-growing library or Netflix’s catalog of streaming options, it still offers tons of unique content for free. Free things are always worth considering.
Verizon users, be aware that streaming mobile video on go90 won’t cost you a scrap of data. For those of you using a different wireless carrier, you can still stream go90, but normal data rates will apply.
Listing go90’s full streaming library seems like it may be impossible. We’ve been scrolling through its content and the list never seems to end. If we had to ballpark it, we would estimate there to be over a thousand TV shows, movies, and even original content. Here’s some notable content you can stream through go90:
- The Runner
- Tween Fest
- Funny or Die
- Nerdest Industries
- Veronica Mars
- Zac & Mia
- When Harry Met Sally
You’re probably wondering why you wouldn’t just go to the Nerdist or CollegeHumor websites instead of go90 to find their content. Truthfully, we don’t have the answer to that question. No doubt go90 wants to be your one-stop source for tons of video content, but the fact of the matter is you can easily go straight to the source instead.
Check out the go90 channel and shows page and see what you think. You’ll probably find that a lot of the shows you’ve never heard of, but after watching some little-known content, you might be surprised by the interesting stuff available. You may even find your next favorite show somewhere deep in the go90 library.
The overall streaming experience was pretty average from we’ve come to expect from other streaming services. That’s not necessarily a bad thing—the streaming quality was a far cry from other paid streaming services like PlayStation Vue, but it still looked pretty great for a free service. We didn’t experience any extreme buffering or lagging on our shared Wi-Fi connection, but you should aim for an internet speed of at least 5 Mbps to enjoy a quality stream.
Don’t expect any 4k or HD quality content just yet with go90, but the picture is certainly passable. So, even those with slow internet speed should be able to stream go90 without any issue.
Now let’s walk through the interface.
When you enter the home page, you’re welcomed with a scrolling banner that updates you on programming you may want to check out. As you scroll down, you can scan through Netflix-style and see what’s popular, seasonal, or recommended. If you’re familiar with popular streaming apps like Netflix or Hulu, you’ll feel right at home with go90.
When you click on the Channels & Shows page, you’ll find a seemingly endless scroll containing all of the shows you can watch. Seriously, every time you think you’ve reached the bottom, more shows get refreshed. For those of us who don’t know exactly what we want to watch, it’s a great way to scan tons of content and find something worth checking out.
For those of us who get overwhelmed with too much to choose from, the Categories page can make things easier. There, you can find a genre you’re interested in watching or find a go90 network you’d like to follow.
Despite having such an eclectic streaming library, go90 makes it pretty simple to navigate through content. Deciding on what to watch, however, can still get very difficult.

go90 Review Summary: Our Verdict
- Free service
- Tons of original content
- Simple navigation
- Mobile-only streaming
- Lesser-known and less popular content
It’s hard to criticize a service that’s totally free, so we have to mention we enjoyed our experience using go90 as a whole. Once we created our go90 account, we lost ourselves for several hours, watching samples of all the original content.
If you’re looking for a free streaming service with different content than you’d usually find with more popular streaming services, absolutely check out go90. Especially for those of you use Verizon, since you can have zero guilt over spending precious data.
Our Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐ (out of a possible five stars)
