What we like: Hulu’s massive on-demand library
Drawbacks: Only one channel package
Who it’s perfect for: Viewers looking for a one-size-fits-all solution
Hulu with Live TV combines the best of both worlds with livestreaming and on-demand streaming. With it, you can stream FOX live and watch FOX’s on-demand shows at your leisure.
You can watch FOX for free with a 7-day Hulu with Live TV trial.
$39.99 for FOX and much more
Hulu Live offers FOX, ESPN, FX, Disney Channel and over 55 other channels. It has a pretty even balance of local networks like FOX, sports channels, and lifestyle channels.
On top of those live channels, you also get the (figurative) key to Hulu’s entire on-demand streaming library. That means you can switch from watching a live baseball game over to an episode or two of Brooklyn Nine-Nine or The Simpsons.
Fortunately, there’s no need to stress about which Hulu Live package to get—there’s only one option. On the one hand, the Hulu Live channel package covers most of your TV-watching bases. On the other hand, you can’t upgrade your channel package. If you want more options, check out DIRECTV NOW.
Does Hulu with Live TV let me watch FOX?
Streaming local channels sounds easier than it actually is, but you shouldn’t need to worry about that with Hulu Live. Hulu Live offers the most FOX coverage across the US.
Here’s how to check if you can stream FOX in your area with Hulu Live:
- Go to Hulu’s website.
- Go down the page until you see all the channel icons. Right below that, it will say “View all channels in your area.”
- Click that button, enter your ZIP code, and look for FOX.
Hulu Live DVR
Your subscription comes with 50 hours of cloud DVR storage automatically (without any extra cost). Now, if you commit yourself to delete everything after you watch it, you can make 50 hours of cloud DVR work just fine. But all those episodes of Lucifer, Gotham, and Family Guy—not to mention three-hour football and baseball games—can really add up.
Long story short, delete stuff after you watch it, and you will live long and prosper.
If you don’t feel super confident about your ability to keep a tidy DVR library, you can always upgrade to 500 hours of storage. Those extra hours will cost an extra $14.99 a month on top of your normal bill, but the peace of mind may make it worth it to you.
